    What Skills Will I Learn?

    Our progressive training system ensures every athlete masters fundamentals before moving to advanced skills:

    Physical Skills

    • Tumbling: Forward rolls, cartwheels, back walkovers, and eventually back handsprings
    • Stunting: Partner work, pyramids, and aerial techniques
    • Jumps: Toe touches, pikes, hurdlers, and combination sequences

    Our Beginner Programs

    Beginner Berries (Ages 3-5)

    Our youngest athletes start with basic movements, following directions, and having fun. Classes focus on:

    • Basic body positions and flexibility
    • Simple jumps and arm motions
    • Social skills and taking turns
    • Building confidence in a group setting

    FUNdamentals (Ages 6-12)

    The foundation of our program where athletes learn proper technique in all cheerleading disciplines. This is where most beginners start, regardless of age. View all our cheer classes and schedules to find the perfect fit for your athlete.

    What to Expect in Your First Class

    1. Warm-up (10 minutes): Dynamic stretching and conditioning
    2. Skill stations (30 minutes): Rotating through tumbling, stunting, and jumps
    3. Choreography (15 minutes): Learning routines and performing
    4. Cool-down (5 minutes): Stretching and review

    What to Wear

    • Athletic wear (shorts/leggings and fitted top)
    • Hair pulled back securely
    • No jewelry for safety
    • Athletic shoes for warmup (cheer shoes optional for beginners)

    Investment and Commitment

    Beginner classes at LVA start at $150/month for once-weekly sessions. We recommend at least a 3-month commitment to see real progress. Most athletes train 1-2 times per week starting out.

    Additional costs may include:

    • Practice wear: $50-100
    • Cheer shoes: $50-80
    • Competition fees (if moving to competitive teams): $300-500 per season
